Two wonderful Guildford residents are trying to raise some funds for children
in Mukono, Uganda to continue taking part in a hugely successful
football and sports project! Guildford is ‘linked’ with Mukono which is
situated east of Kampala and for the past ten years educational projects and
links with schools have benefitted many disadvantaged children. Sport is
just one of these projects but our funding runs out soon – we’d hate
for the sports to stop. Do read about Luke and Shaz’s inspired plans and
support them by clicking on our Donations page!
THANK YOU from The Guildford Mukono Link Trustees!!
From Luke and Shazna Bishop:
“We have lived and worked in Guildford for the last ten years and before this
used to spend our summers at Stoke Park and Guildford Lido. We are staff for
The National Westminster Bank.
We both love Guildford and the community feel that it has and are delighted
to be raising money for Guildford Mukono Link as it is great to be able get
involved in something that is so unique to Guildford and the town of Mukono.
We were both so impressed with Sally’s enthusiasm for the charity that both
feel keen to get involved as this enthusiasm is infectious.
The plan is for us to both run the Great South Run and Luke will cycle from
Guildford to the start line in Portsmouth from our home in Merrow, Guildford.
We are both members of Surrey Sports Park and training has already begun
and it is likely you will see us running and cycling round Guildford on a nightly
basis. Our favourite routes are running to Newlands Corner and racing round
The funds raised will support the Guildford Mukono Sports Project.
During the past few years the lives of over 500 children from the Mukono
community have been changed and enriched through taking part in fun,
inclusive sports EACH WEEK !! Let’s keep it going!”
Please donate generously.
